FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wyomissing’s Independence Day Parade and Celebration:  A Slice of Americana

Wyomissing, PA  – Get ready for the Borough of Wyomissing's highly anticipated Independence Day Parade and Celebration, a true slice of Americana! This beloved community event has been a cornerstone of the Borough’s festivities, bringing neighbors and friends together in a joyous celebration of our nation’s independence.

The two-day celebration kicks off on July 3rd with a spectacular fireworks show, generously sponsored by ROG Orthodontics. The show starts at 10:00 PM, with fireworks being launched from the Wyomissing Pool. As a prelude to the fireworks, we will host a Moonlight Swim at the pool from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, offering a refreshing way to enjoy the summer evening.

The excitement continues on the 4th of July, starting with a bang—literally, — as Tim Hetrich fires off his 18th century musket to commence the Firecracker Family Fun Run at 9:30 AM. At 10:00 AM sharp, the parade will step off, showcasing antique and classic cars, patriotic floats, marching bands, beauty pageant winners, the Reading Royals, and more.

This year’s parade features a spectacular line up of musical talent, including the Philharmonic Band of Reading, the Reading Buccaneer Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps, Pretzel City Dixieland Jazz Band, the Hawk Mountain Highlanders, Hesse's Hot Jazz Band, and special guests, the Greater Kensington String Band. The parade will wind through the beautiful, tree-lined streets of Wyomissing, culminating at the historic Stone House for the grand celebration.

At the Stone House, attendees will enjoy music by the Wyomissing Band, Inc. and the Pretzel City Dixieland Jazz Band. Fundraising concessions will be provided by the Wyomissing High School Football Team and the local Cub Scout troop, alongside treats from the Great American Creamery, cotton candy, and more.

The celebration will feature a variety of fun activities, including raft rides across the pond, the Rubber Duck Races (supporting the Wyomissing Public Library), a dunk tank, bounce houses and an obstacle course, and the ever-popular Pie Eating Contest.

Mayor Fred Levering shares his enthusiasm for the event, saying, "I'm really looking forward to the 4th of July Celebration. It's wonderful to not only see our community members, but also see many former residents and friends from throughout the area return to Wyomissing for our Independence Day Parade and Celebration. It's the most Norman Rockwell-like experience you'll ever see."

This event is a cherished hometown tradition, bringing the community together to celebrate our nation’s independence. Don’t miss out on this festive celebration filled with nostalgia, patriotism, and fun for all ages.
