FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Look Up with STARGAZING in the Parklands!
Prepare to embark on a cosmic journey as the Borough of Wyomissing presents Stargazing in the Parklands, a beloved community tradition that brings the magic of the night sky to life. The 2025 series will feature three special evenings for residents and visitors to come together and explore the celestial wonders above.
Event Dates:
Friday, February 7th – 6:30 PM
Friday, May 2nd – 8:30 PM
Friday, September 12th – 8:30 PM
Each session will be held on the West Slope of the Parklands, just off Cambridge Avenue and Parkview Drive. Parking is available in the designated area off Parkview, with a short trail leading to the ideal viewing location.
With minimal light pollution and unobstructed views, the Parklands provide a perfect setting for stargazing. Guests will be guided by the expertise of the Berks County Amateur Astronomical Society, who will bring telescopes and share insights into the constellations, planets, and other celestial phenomena. Whether you’re spotting Orion’s Belt, navigating the Milky Way, or wondering why Pluto lost its planetary status, there’s something for everyone to discover.
Stargazing offers a peaceful way to relax, connect with nature, and marvel at the vastness of the universe. Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly, bring chairs or blankets for comfort, and, if possible, use red-light flashlights to preserve their night vision. These sessions are perfect for families, friends, and anyone with a sense of wonder and curiosity about the cosmos.
Please note that there are no rain dates for these events, so be sure to mark your calendars and follow the Borough’s social media channels for any weather-related updates. Whether you’re an avid astronomer or simply enjoy the beauty of the stars, STARGAZING in the Parklands promises a truly memorable experience.
