Creating Memories and Honoring Traditions

Whether you were splashing around in the pond after the 4th of July Parade or lacing up your skates to work on your balance and form, or... your slapshot, the Stone House Pond has been a cherished part of the Wyomissing community for generations. It’s a place where memories are made, season after season, bringing families, friends, and neighbors together in a way few other spots can. This winter was no exception, as the pond once again became a hub of activity, with skaters of all ages embracing the ice and the timeless tradition of pond skating. Thanks to favorable conditions and the dedicated efforts of our Public Works team, the community enjoyed nearly three weeks of fantastic skating—one of the best stretches we’ve had in years.

Maintaining this beloved landmark is no small feat, and the Borough’s Public Works team has been hard at work keeping the ice in top condition throughout one of the harshest winters in recent memory. Their dedication to grooming the surface and staying ahead of rapidly changing temperatures made this season’s skating possible, despite facing an ongoing challenge—a mysterious leak causing the pond to lose water. Unfortunately, the freezing conditions that created ideal skating opportunities also prevented the team from locating and repairing the leak, leaving that task for the warmer months ahead.

With spring right around the corner, the focus will now shift to restoring the pond and its surrounding area to its full, majestic beauty. Public Works crews will assess the water levels, locate the source of the leak, and make the necessary repairs to ensure the pond remains a vibrant part of the community year-round. Whether for summer splashes or winter skating, the Stone House Pond will continue to be a place where  new memories are made, thanks to the tireless efforts of the team working behind the scenes.
