Businesses, Families, and Neighbors Invited to Bring Pumpkinsāand People, to Life!
This fall, Wyomissing is set to debut a brand-new community tradition with the launch of The Pumpkin People of Wyomissing. Inspired by the famous Pumpkin People of Jackson, New Hampshire—an event that has delighted visitors for more than 40 years—the Borough of Wyomissing is inviting businesses, organizations, and residents to create whimsical, spooky, or downright silly pumpkin people displays throughout the community.
The goal? To bring neighbors together, attract visitors to local businesses, and celebrate the season with creativity and fun.
The Pumpkin People of Jackson has become such a phenomenon that “patches of people” have now popped up across the country, as far away as Southern California. Now, Wyomissing is bringing that same energy home, with its own creative twist.
Participants can register by emailing rmckinley@wyomissingboro.org.
Each display location will be included on an official community map, allowing residents and visitors to plan their own pumpkin tours—whether that means strolling through local business districts or piling the kids in the car for a family-friendly pumpkin-spotting adventure.
To add to the excitement, Wyomissing will also host a “People’s Choice Award,” encouraging the community to vote for their favorite displays.
“This is one of those projects that bridges the gap between promoting local businesses and creating something unforgettable for residents,” said Randy McKinley, Director of Recreation for the Borough of Wyomissing. “The Pumpkin People of Wyomissing will give us all a reason to explore, smile, and show off the creative spirit that makes this community so special.”
“When I first heard about this project, I’ll admit I was a little skeptical,” said Michele Bare, Borough Manager. “But once I started clicking and reading about what other communities have done, I quickly saw the charm, creativity, and community spirit behind it. I think Wyomissing is the perfect place to make this our own tradition.”
The event is open to all—whether you’re a small business hoping to draw foot traffic to your storefront, a school looking for a fun seasonal project, or a family ready to bring your yard to life with pumpkins and imagination.
